One of the things that makes our country weaker is that we allow states that wish to undermine the teaching of evolution. We can’t expect to have a strong, scientific nation if we keep acting like science is an opinion-based discipline.

    I don’t think it helped that politicians rather than scientists sold androgenic climate change as “scientific consensus” instead of just saying “the weight of scientific evidence is overwhelming”.

    This, I think, gave the impression that science was about scientists sitting around and selecting the explanation they liked the best. In trying to simplify, I think the politicians spun it in political terms, obfuscating rather than edifying/
