Name not withstanding, Clair Patterson was an Iowa farm boy by origin. He also happened to do some of the most important work in geology since Charles Lyell.
I’ve always found it ironic that some of the worst looking and most difficult to navigate websites are ones run by places that offer to train students in website design and the like.
While in Tanzania, Arusha National Park will be near where I’m staying when I’m not on Kilimanjaro. It’s a park known for a good deal of wildlife – the sort of wildlife stereotypical of Africa. (In fact, Tanzania is rife with beautiful wildlife stereotypes.) Unfortunately, I’m not forking over the two grand to take a safari through the area, so I may not see everything I hope to see. I will, however, be driving through Kilimanjaro National Park, so I hope to see all the big beasts of Africa there. Lions, tigers, and…uh, zebras, oh my. But if there’s only one wild animal I get to see, I hope it’s a giraffe.
Shambling After has been having an awesome summer, I dare say more awesome than my Utah-Africa summer. Given that I am making this post so far in advance of my departure (it’s July 25 as I type this), I can only hope she has been delighting you all with her excellent writing. But if she hasn’t been posting, I can at least deliver some of what she has to offer the blogging world via this photograph from Cairo.
When I started watching this video, I was immediately turned off by the ease and excessive popularity of the trail. Of course, I continued watching. I foresee coming home with a few nifty pictures of Angels Landing in Zion.
