Thought of the day

I try to listen to conservative views pretty often. I think it’s only fair to hear some of the points the other side has to make, even if most of them are only grounded in ideology. But I’ve had to institute a new personal listening policy: Whenever I hear a conservative start ranting about death panels, that’s where I turn off the TV or radio or click out of the article. I could have sworn that blatant lie had been thrown away long, long ago.

  1. There is nothing as vile as a lying conservative. They just keep on spewing same feces.

  2. To clarify, I believe that a government run health care system would have to use rationing, and while I understand the submitted plan does NOT include death panels, I think it would be a scandal not to. Peter Singer has written at length about this.

The alternative is, would you be content with our government spending $1 million to give an 80 year old smoker one more week of life? If so, is there a high enough price where you will say no?

If there is a cost you think is too much, how else would you advise that we make that decision other than a panel to determine individual patients, or a panel to craft a formula for hospitals to automaticly cut off care?

  3. There are few 80 year old smokers. Smokers don’t live that long.

  4. Fine, an 80 year old terminal cancer patient.

1 million to keep her alive another week.

  5. Nate, Bob clearly doesn’t want to answer the question. You really get to the heart of the matter by asking about a person who knowingly put themselves in harms way.

  6. Hey Michael.your question is to Michael Hawkins. I just made an observation. Pay attention and read the words and then TRY to comprehend their meaning. I think your question is inane, as the questions which try to lead to an answer always are.

Conservatives usually close their mind and then also say just about anything to get their way. Just like impatient little children. So go ahead and throw a temper tantrum if you wish.

  7. Why would he need to when you’ve just thrown such a nice one.

Come on, Bob, what is your life worth in other peoples money?

  8. Yet another rhetorical question. So tiresome.

  9. It wasn’t rhetorical.
