  1. Yes, since essence I’d defined as a property of something, therefore there must be something first. Ghosts and gods do not exist – nothing instead of something.

Some will erroneously argue that ideas are something but they are not. One can not place them in a box or vacuum them up.

  2. So what? How does that play out in the grand scheme of things other than one to bask in the glow of pseudo intelligence?

  3. Do you believe there is such a thing as the human condition*? Most of the world does, and this has consequences. It means that there is some external, perhaps eternal, determining factor(s) or entity which dictates reality. It is the fundamental basis of virtually all religions, not to mention a number of philosophies.

However, if existence precedes essence, then it from action that value is derived. This places responsibility upon humanity without offering excuses.

*This is different from human nature.

  4. Of course I believe in the human condition…I suffer from it…sort of my “cogito ergo sum”.

I also believe there is some external factor which dictates reality..not an anthrapormorphic entitiy who demands faith and loyalty while punishing non-believers.

I have not a shred of evidence the “external factor” which you describe exists or doesn’t exist but the attempt to dissect essence from existance clouds rather than clarifies for me.

I happen to think this reality is a priniple of physics, which ’till now, has escaped our human condition.
