  1. Were they both just spoofs? The second obviously is.

  2. I don’t think the first one is. I can understand her annoyance with cultural differences in such close quarters. I don’t get the impression that she has a problem with the people themselves.

Have you ever heard a waitress complain about foreigners not tipping? Tipping is a pretty American thing, it’s not common in other places like it is expected here. That waitress doesn’t have a problem with the people, but a certain behavior.

Asia, is of course, extremely different in cultural terms. We would be just as annoying if you were an American doing the same thing over there.

  3. Tubby isn’t as funny as he thinks he is either.

  4. They’re not real big on tipping in Germany, but the waiters here all get like $12 hour, and all workers in Germany get thirty days paid vacation. If you tip five percent they’ll remember you…..positively.

    Enjoy.

  5. You’re right, Nate. She wasn’t wildly offensive and racist in anything she said. Her observations were well-considered and astute.

  6. She may be a glaring racist, I don’t know, I’m just not willing to tar and feather her because she finds specific cultural differences annoying and disruptive.

Like I said, Americans would probably be found pretty annoying in China or where ever too.
