Thought of the day

The accusation that one is “closed-minded” is usually more accurately interpreted as someone saying, “You don’t agree with me, so you must not have considered my position since what I believe is so right and there’s just no way what you believe is right.”

  1. In my book, open-mindedness is “I am perfectly willing to move from the null hypothesis towards your viewpoint in the face of verifiable, convincing evidence. Until then, I’ll stick with the null hypothesis.”

  2. All ideas do not merit equal consideration. Hear whatever ideas are presented, fine. But to claim that all ideas deserve equal weighting is ludicrous. The ideas with the best evidence deserve the most consideration, period. Part of me thinks that the PC movement in this country is partly to blame here.
