Thought of the day

Here is a descriptive claim:

Many people think bugs are gross.

It is not a value statement. Now here is a normative claim:

Bugs are gross.

It passes judgement on bugs and is therefore a value statement.

I wish more people could separate these two types of claims.

  2. No. People just commonly confuse descriptive and normative statements.

  3. Good, bugs make terrible euphemisms. Largely because of their grossness.
