Here is a descriptive claim:
Many people think bugs are gross.
It is not a value statement. Now here is a normative claim:
Bugs are gross.
It passes judgement on bugs and is therefore a value statement.
I wish more people could separate these two types of claims.

Are these bugs a euphemism?
No. People just commonly confuse descriptive and normative statements.
Good, bugs make terrible euphemisms. Largely because of their grossness.
