Comments

I have had comments set to allow for nesting. That means it is possible to click “reply” below a given comment and leave another comment, this time having it indent so as to indicate a response. I hate this. I only have it because when I transferred everything to my other blog, that was a default setting and then people used it like crazy when I was getting a ton of hits. Now that that is all over, I am switching everything back. This will result in some funky looking responses in a few places.

I made a bet

I’m still not entirely sure who everyone is betting with all these Facebook groups, but I nevertheless made a bet myself. I bet my group can get more members than Andreas Moritz’s fan page.

Since Moritz is one heck of a whiner, I specifically designed this group to just state the bat shit crazy things he actually believes.

Andreas Moritz thinks cancer is caused by the victim, is not a disease, and he is against all things true. The man also says AIDS and diabetes are not diseases. He has no grasp of basic biology.

Okay, I also pointed out his lack of education in biology, but it’s also entirely true. The man is a mook. Unfortunately, he’s an extremely dangerous mook. He is a legitimate threat to the health of anyone dumb enough to listen to him. And that’s what this is all about. He has partially made himself a target of mine because he’s also a class-A douche, but even if he could take his lumps and swallow them like an adult, I would still be passionate about exposing his quackery. I really mean it when I say lives are at risk. This guy has no idea what the hell is going on but he still thinks it’s okay if he tells cancer patients dangerous things. And we all know the reason why: he’s a charlatan. He wants the money of vulnerable people. Andreas Moritz is one of the biggest pieces of shit there is and it is a good thing that people know that.

The incoherent ramblings of Andreas Moritz

One positive that immediately came from Andy Moritz whining about my Facebook fan page of him is that I know he still reads this blog. I never directly sent him any of the information about the page, so unless he happened to go searching for himself within hours of me creating it, then he got his information here. That’s swell because now he can read this. (Hi, Andy!)

Moritz often says the most incoherent bullshit. The man is a moron with no grasp on anything. This holds especially true for the basics of biology.

When one or more amino acids become depleted, DNA or RNA molecules break apart, leaving behind their protein fragments labeled HIV.

This doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. It’s likes he found a few buzzwords in the glossary of a biology textbook and just randomly strung them together. Is he saying amino acids are proteins? Or does he mean DNA/RNA? Either way he’s as wrong as his syntax. And is he saying HIV is a protein? The quack is utterly incoherent.

But there’s more. This is from his shitty fan page.

Exercise to only half your capacity. Tiring yourself only defeats the very purpose. Exercise is supposed to make you feel refreshed, revitalized and energetic. As you proceed, your capacity for exercise will naturally increase.

Exactly. Exercise should be a walk in the park. It ought to be easy, untiring, and not even feel like exercise. That’s how all those people in infomercials get the way they are. They really just half-ass it and suddenly get buff as hell. Wait, what? Why doesn’t anyone believe me? Fine, don’t take my word for it. Andreas Moritz is the one with all the muscles (and not gaunt and weak or anything*).

One the most important discoveries ever made about man’s number one killer disease is rarely mentioned in reports on heart disease and its contributing risks, but this doesn’t make it less real. The greatest risk factors of developing heart disease are job satisfaction and the happiness rating.

Really? Where are your studies? Where is all the evidence? The moron doesn’t have any. This is just his ill-begotten opinion. He knows nothing.

If you want to help a sick person but do not know how, hold his/her hand in yours. This does more to help the person’s condition than any amount of sympathetic words could do.

This pretty much captures this guy. He doesn’t actually help anyone. And while he holds someone’s hand, he has his other hand in that person’s wallet. The condition of greed and deceit under which Moritz lives is greatly helped by this, far more so than any amount of sympathetic words could do.

*If you delete that picture, Andy, I have it saved and will upload it so we can all have yet another chuckle at your expense.

The question has been answered

I earlier wondered how long until Andy Moritz got a Facebook group shutdown.

You created a Page that has violated our Terms of Use. A Facebook Page is a distinct presence used solely for business or promotional purposes. Among other things, Pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed. We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorized individual. If your Page was removed for any of the above reasons, it will not be reinstated. Continued misuse of Facebook’s features could result in the permanent loss of your account. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit the Terms applicable to Facebook Pages at http://www.facebook.com/terms_pages.php.

Basically, Facebook’s policy is one of anti-criticism. Unless of course it’s not.

The real issue lies in the poorly defined difference between fan pages and groups. They try to claim the two are “distinct”, but they’ve clearly failed as this is an ongoing issue throughout the entire website. Maybe they’ve just been distracted by their failed privacy policies.

Anyway…who just can’t wait for the group page?

Not a big deal, big deal happens

Two people got married. Socially, this ought not be a big deal. Whatever. Good for those two people. But since this is another big step forward for equality, it is a big deal.

One bride wore a knee-length lace dress and pearls. The other bride wore a yellow shirt and white suit. And when a pastor pronounced them “partners in life this day and for always” Tuesday, they hugged and smiled in front of wedding guests and nearly a dozen TV cameras and reporters.Sinjoyla Townsend

On the first day same-sex couples could marry in Washington, brides Angelisa Young and Sinjoyla Townsend were the first of three couples taking the plunge in morning ceremonies at the offices of the Human Rights Campaign, which does advocacy work on gay, lesbian and transgender issues. Other ceremonies were planned throughout the day.

“Today was like a dream for me,” Young said.

Jack, Jack, Jack

Editing posts on one’s blog is only funny and/or okay when the person is a spammer. It doesn’t so much work when it’s done to people putting forth real substance.

I actually didn’t say that, and if you are going respond to arguements, perhaps you could respond to arguements made, instead of making arguements up to respond to? Of course, it may be you can’t respond to those actually made, in which case, I understand the temptation.

That should read as follows.

I actually didn’t say that, (sic) and if you are going respond to arguements, (sic) perhaps you could respond to arguements (sic) made, instead of making arguements (sic) up to respond to? (sic) Of course, it may be you can’t respond to those actually made, in which case, (sic) I understand the temptation.

No one minds the occasional typo or spelling error. They happen. I routinely find errors in old posts. (And, in fact, there surely will be one somewhere in this post, no matter how closely I comb over it.) But god damn it. If you’re going to edit someone’s correction, at least also edit what was being corrected in the first place. Language is important.

Another great Hubble shot

I don’t know any details on this one and it isn’t recent, but it sure is purdy.

Andreas Moritz, Facebooker

Immediately following the Andreas Moritz fiasco that got my blog temporarily pulled, it appears Moritz created a Facebook fan page for himself. I just couldn’t resist the opportunity. But more importantly, I couldn’t resist writing this.

Andreas Moritz is a dangerous quack who gives shitty advice that can literally result in death for any who follow it. He doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about. No, seriously. I mean always. He just has no clue how unbelievably wrong he is about everything. Look at this shit.

“When one or more amino acids become depleted, DNA or RNA molecules break apart, leaving behind their protein fragments labeled HIV.”

No, no, what the fuck? This quack doesn’t have a basic education in biology. Don’t listen to him for anything.

And where did I write this? Why, on my new Facebook page, Andreas Moritz is a cancer quack.

Be sure to join before Moritz has that shutdown, too.

Quack quack quack

Two things. First, my middle names are always awesome. Second, I can’t forget to link back to ol’ Andreas.

Update: Oh, no! Andy de-fanned me and blocked me from leaving more comments! This is almost as heartbreaking as when John Lott de-friended me on Facebook.

Religion-based violence continues in Nigeria

The religious-based violence has only been intensifying in Nigeria.

Funerals took place for victims of the three-hour orgy of violence on Sunday in three Christian villages close to the northern city of Jos, blamed on members of the mainly Muslim Fulani ethnic group.

While troops were deployed to the villages to prevent new attacks, security forces detained 95 suspects but faced bitter criticism over how the killers were able to go on the rampage at a time when a curfew was meant to be in force.

Media reported that Muslim residents of the villages in Plateau state had been warned by phone text message, two days prior to the attack, so they could make good their escape before the exit points were sealed off.

Survivors said the attackers were able to separate the Fulanis from members of the rival Berom group by chanting ‘nagge’, the Fulani word for cattle. Those who failed to respond in the same language were hacked to death.

Don’t be fooled by the use of a language barrier. That only acts as a tool for what is yet another case of religiously-based violence. Remove religion from this situation and these acts of violence have no real label, hardly a root.

“Nigeria’s political and religious leaders should work together to address the underlying causes and to achieve a permanent solution to the crisis in Jos.” [said a Vatican spokesman]

There is no permanent solution to violence. There are only best solutions. In this case, it is necessary that religious divides be destroyed – and the only way that will happen is either if one group absolutely dominates the landscape or if both groups dissipate. There is nothing like the organizing power of religion and bizarre beliefs (i.e., no depictions of a misogynistic asshole or, say, belief in Jew zombies – and inconsistent beliefs, at that) to get a whole pot of hate and violence stirring.

However the archbishop of the capital Abuja, John Onaiyekan, told Vatican Radio that the violence was rooted not in religion but in social, economic and tribal differences.

“It is a classic conflict between pastoralists and farmers, except that all the Fulani are Muslims and all the Berom are Christians,” he said.

Fulani are mainly nomadic cattle rearers while Beroms are traditionally farmers.

That must be why there are so many battles in the western U.S. where cattle herders and farmers cross paths. Wait. Wait. That’s right. There’s a homogeneity to the religion of America. And when there were ‘battles’, they were highly localized and not based upon religion.

This whole herders v farmers argument is hand-waving bullshit. No one is denying that there are almost always a number of factors that lead to violence, but that is a far cry from being able to discount religion’s culpability, especially in this situation. Nigeria has a long history of violence based upon unnecessary ethnic divisions that were primed and exacerbated by religion. It has always been religion that has intensified Nigerian history, not merely fence-cutting and grazing in the wrong place. In fact, one of the major obstacles to better governance in Nigeria is the massive number of political parties as organized by religious affiliation. (And this is probably still better than what we can expect from Iraq in coming years.)

And what the archbishop above is omitting is that Nigeria is still very much an agrarian economy. Nearly 2/5 of the population lives directly off the land. Doesn’t it seem just a little suspicious that it is where Christians and Muslims collide that the violence is occurring?
